The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) in cooperation with Oman Post on Sunday October 30, 2022, launched two special stamps commemorating the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting of the 2022 editions of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and the Aga Khan Music Awards.
The stamps were launched at the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Winners’ Seminar that was held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The stamps depict the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) which symbolises Oman in the fields of architecture and music. ROHM was chosen due to its historic hosting of the Aga Khan Awards for Architecture and Music (2020-2022).
In a statement Oman News Agency said: “The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in partnership with Oman Post, has launched postage stamps representing the Omani icon in architecture and music, the Royal Opera House, which hosts the 2022 Aga Khan Awards for Architecture and Music.”
The fifteenth edition of the architecture stamp and the second edition of the music stamp was signed on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman by His Excellency Sayyid Saeed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the hosting and by Prince Amyn Aga Khan on behalf of his brother, His Highness the Aga Khan.
The Aga Khan Music Awards (read REPORT) were held over 2 days on Saturday October 29 and Sunday October 30, 2022. The presentation ceremony for the 15th cycle of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture will take place on Monday, October 31, 2022 (read REPORT).
