May 29, 2026 to Current: Germany visit essential details
Following the announcement on May 29, 2026, of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s visit to Germany to meet the European Jamat from July 4 to 6, 2026, Ismaili Institutions have started publishing essential details, information and programs related to the visit. May 29, 2026: His Highness the Aga Khan announces an official visit to Germany to meet his followers in Continental Europe
Mawlana Hazar Imam, His Highness the Aga Khan, officially confirmed his visit to Germany from July 4 to 6, 2026, as announced in the Talika readout at Jamatkhanas worldwide on Friday, May 29. The announcement followed his significant journey to Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral in Northern Pakistan, which concluded on May 26.
In the Talika, he expressed his eagerness to meet with the Jamat residing in Germany and with Jamati members residing in the Continental European countries shown on the map below (circled in blue).
To focus his attention on the Jamats residing in European countries, Mawlana Hazar Imam said he does not wish members of the Jamat from other countries to travel to Germany during his visit.
Since becoming the 50th Imam on February 4, 2025, Mawlana Hazar Imam has visited FRANCE, KENYA, UGANDA, USA (Phase 1), PORTUGAL, UK, CANADA (Phase 1) and PAKISTAN (Phase 1). (Click the links for detailed reports of his 8 visits)

2024: Historical Notes
On Monday, January 18, 2024, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the older son of the Hereditary 49th Ismaili Imam, His Highness the Aga Khan, met the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, at the Bellevue Palace, Berlin. President Steinmeier became Germany’s president on March 19, 2017. He was previously the federal minister of foreign affairs from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2017, as well as the vice chancellor of Germany from 2007 to 2009.
Prince Rahim and President Steinmeier discussed the decades-long development partnership between public and private institutions in Germany and AKDN in Africa, South and Central Asia and the Middle East, and potential areas of future cooperation. Germany and the AKDN have collaborated in the fields of industry, tourism, financial services, clean energy, water supply, health, education, community development, urban revitalisation and infrastructure. The dialogue also covered the ongoing engagement of the Ismaili Imamat in Germany and in Europe in domains that include social inclusion, culture, education and early childhood development and care.

Eji, Aash Karine Ya Ali hun tere dar ubhi,
Kar jodine em mangu Ya Shah;
Dejo didar tusi mahavar datar Shah,

Our Lord and Master of the Age,

Grace us with your visit to the Indian Subcontinent
