100 for the Ocean, an exclusive annual event, is meticulously organized by renowned conservation photographers Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, and Chase Teron. This year, they’ve curated a select group of 100 photographers and artists, including Prince Hussain Aga Khan, who have graciously contributed their works. These limited-edition pieces offer a unique opportunity to own exceptional photography and art at affordable prices, all while supporting ocean conservation.
From June 1 to June 30, 2024, you can purchase Prince Hussain’s beautiful small and medium-sized print, starting at US $141.00, by clicking Spinner Dolphins by Hussain Aga Khan – 100 for the Ocean.
Jessica Stewart in a piece for the website My Modern Met writes:
“The sale is a wonderful way to own a piece of fine art photography while also giving back to the planet. This year’s beneficiaries of the sale were all selected for the impact and integrity of their work in the ocean, and how their work can be amplified through visual storytelling.”
In May/June 2023, Prince Hussain exhibited his breathtaking underwater photographs at the Glenbow at the Edison in Calgary and the Ismaili Centre in Toronto. The overwhelming turnout for his exhibitions and presentations is a testament to the importance, quality and appeal of Prince Hussain’s work. We featured special articles and photographs about the exhibitions and his talks in Barakah. During the last 15 years, since the launching of our sister website Simerg in 2009, we have sought to support Prince Hussain in a number of ways including making available signed and unsigned copies of his books Animal Voyage and Diving Into Wildlife. His new book, The Living Sea, is a gem. The Glenbow in Calgary sold all the copies allocated to them during last year’s exhibition.
We are delighted he is now supporting a cause so close to his heart — the Ocean and its animals. Again, to increase the impact of his generosity, you can acquire Spinner Dolphins to adorn your home or office, which will remind you and your family members about the importance of safeguarding the Ocean and its beautiful animals.
In a note on the photograph of spinner dolphins he captured, Prince Hussain writes:
“Once again it seem as if holy light were shining on my precious and beloved subjects. The spinner dolphins here were in shallow water — easier to get to. Holding one’s breath is hard, though, and always seems a struggle for me. Hence, capturing an image like this one under duress is always a delight.”
