His Highness the Aga Khan in Pakistan: A Chitral boy’s story of a beautiful moment with his beloved 49th Imam

There were two occasions during  Mawlana Hazar Imam’s arrival at Nur Khan Airbase in Islamabad on Thursday evening, December 7, 2017 when he was presented with bouquets. The first shortly after he had descended from the steps of his plane, and the second time inside the terminal building, just before he had brief discussions with Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Khawaja Asif who was at the airport to receive him.

The boy who presented Hazar Imam with a bouquet inside the terminal building has described the few moments Hazar Imam spent with him. Whether these moments were spent while the bouquet was being presented or sometime soon after is not very clear from the video that I have received, in which a very kind and soft-spoken gentleman is interviewing the boy. The boy tells the interviewer that he said to Hazar Imam that he loved him very much. Then, according to the boy, Hazar Imam replied, “Me too.” Hazar Imam then asked the boy where he came from, and the boy replied that he was from Chitral. Hazar Imam was insightful, and asked the boy where he currently lived, and the boy answered, “Islamabad.” A few moments later, according to the boy, Hazar Imam returned to him and said to him, “God Bless you.”

These little anecdotes warm the hearts and souls of everyone, young and old alike. The gentleman who interviewed the boy for the video did so in a very gentle and loving manner. We thank him and the sweet little boy for sharing this beautiful and cherishable moment from Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee year!

NOTE: In the original version of this story, it was implied that the conversation between the boy and Mawlana Hazar Imam took place during the boy’s presentation of  the bouquet to Hazar Imam. We cannot confirm this, as the conversation may have taken place a little bit later. We will relay the correct sequence of events to our readers once we have the exact information. We apologize for our earlier oversight.
