His Highness the Aga Khan Shia Imam Ismaili Council for Canada has announced that Prince Hussain Aga Khan, second son of Mawlana Hazar Imam, His Highness the Aga Khan, will be visiting Calgary and Toronto for the Canadian debut of his photographic exhibition, “The Living Sea — A Fragile Beauty”, during the month of May, 2023. Internationally, Prince Hussain’s Living Sea exhibition has travelled in recent years to Kenya, Portugal, the UK and Bahrain. He has also exhibited his land and sea-animal photographs under different themes in Europe and the USA. This is the first time ever that he is brining his stunning underwater world photographs to Canada.

On May 18, Prince Hussain will conduct a youth focused event at the University of Calgary, and all post-secondary students and faculty are invited to submit an expression of interest to attend the limited seating event by clicking on ikey.iicanada.ca (sign-on/registration is required.)

We may note that Prince Hussain’s photography books “Animal Voyage” and “Diving Into Wildlife” as well as other beautiful objects to raise funds for his organization Focused on Nature (FON) are available in Canada through Barakah and its sister website Simerg. His most recent book “The Living Sea” will hopefully be available at the exhibition sites and the two University events in Calgary and Toronto as well as at literature counters across Jamatkhanas in Canada.

Barakah, along with its sister websites Simerg and Simergphotos, looks forward to providing coverage of the Calgary exhibition and other related events that will take place during the course of the exhibition between May 11-21. We will also cover the exhibition in Toronto when it is launched on May 24 at the Ismaili Centre.

Date posted: May 6, 2023.
Last updated: May 6, 2023 (8:48 EDT — in our earlier version, our photo captions of the exhibition in Bahrain stated that the exhibition concluded on March 3, 2023. In fact, the exhibition is still ongoing. We regret the error.)

  1. Our gratitude to our beloved Prince Hussain for his incessant work on Nature thus making us all aware of the importance of preserving our planet Earth and oceans around us. As our Mowlana Hazar Imam has reminded us that we are just the custodian of this precocious planet.
